Roma!

I had the pleasure of staying in the San Lorenzo area of Rome for a weekend, removed from the masses and located near the youthful university area. After experiencing the sardine life at the Vatican, treat yourself to some meat, cheese and wine at  Il Sori, where you can find locals giggling, chatting, and of course, drinking.

My friend Claire and I at Il Sori, enjoying a typical aperitivo, which is basically happy hour plus meat.

When in Rome, it's hard to focus. I saw people so beautiful and well-groomed I couldn't look away. I saw people wielding selfie-sticks as weapons. I saw a seagull make a mountain of street-garbage his home. Rome has dirt, and tourists, and the perfume of forty portable toilets. But it also has people. And where there are people, there is, if you're lucky, a deep undercurrent of joy.
