Back At It: First few hours in Berlin
After a hectic journey to Logan airport, and an aesthetically pleasing layover in Iceland (so much facial symmetry!), I finally arrived in Berlin; the city of leashless dogs, shoeless street-drinkers, and endless, effortless funk.
My dear friend and newly anointed expat Mikayla met me at Schönefeld airport, and wasted no time in bringing my jet-lagged, broken body to the nearest bike store, as biking is the cheapest and most beautiful way to navigate the city in the summertime. First stop was one of Berlin's most surreal spots; Revaler Str 99, known in Berlin as "party mile".
Walking along this street one can find colorful clubs, abandoned art-splashed squats, and non-ironic "disco booths" where visitors are encouraged to enter a tiny kiosk and immerse themselves in their favorite disco anthem. Umm...people LIVE this way???
After pinching myself several times to prove this was not some 70's fever-dream, Mikayla and I stopped for some fuel at vegan spot Emma Pea, where we shared Thai inspired sweet potato fries and a hefty stein of Hefeweizen. To top the evening off, we biked to one of Berlin's many lush parks, and fell into the deep deep green. With a bike to call my own and a beer in my belly, I hit the hay and dreamt of absolutely nothing.

My baby! Say hello to Prince the purple bike.
